Castlehill Bowling Club

In October 1995 it was decided to disband Castlehill Church Men’s Guild [which was formed in 1958] due to lack of numbers. Since they had bowling equipment, it was decided in January 1996 to ask if anyone would be interested in forming a Bowling Club. 20 signatures were received and following a meeting on 17th January 1997 bowling started in the North Hall on 24th January.

At the AGM on 6th September of that year it was agreed that the activity be moved to the Main Hall to accommodate the larger numbers. The annual subscription was set at £2 with 30p for tea.

In September 1999 new carpets and equipment were bought with the aid of a local government grant. In 2004 due to increased membership bowling was extended to Monday and Wednesday afternoons.

After Covid in 2022 the club reopened with play on Monday afternoons only.

Membership is not exclusive to Church members but also to anyone in the Parish and at present we have members from other Churches and other denominations. Anyone wishing to join should contact the Church Office for further information.
