Organisations - Castlehill Bowling Club
In October 1995 it was decided to disband The Castlehill Church Men’s Guild (which had been formed in 1958) due to lack of numbers. Since they had bowling equipment it was decided in January 1996 to ask if anyone would be interested in forming a Bowling Club. 20 signatures were received and following a meeting on 17th January 1997 bowling started in the north hall on the 24th January. At the A.G.M. on 6th September it was agreed that the activity be moved to the main hall to accommodate the larger numbers. The annual subscription was set at £2 with 30p for tea. In Sept 1999 new carpets and equipment were bought with the aid of a local government grant. In 2004 due to increases in members, we now have over thirty, bowling was extended to Wednesday afternoons as well as Mondays.
We are delighted to welcome new members. The current annual subscription is £4.00, a modest increase after 8 years. Come along and join, and even if you have never bowled before you will soon learn and enjoy your afternoons. You can also phone Wellwood Grierson on 285903. We look forward to your company.
